Catching Up

Ok, so it has been a really long time since I've posted anything here. Between school, work, and pregnancy life has been really busy. Here are a bunch of pictures of fun things that Jamie and I have done over the last year. :)

For our one year anniversary we did all sorts of fun things! We started off by going to the Family History Library in Downtown Salt Lake. We looked up a book of Jamie's ancestors and took pictures so that we could record the names when we got home. We walked around the capital building as well as City Creek Center. We went to the Tracy Aviary. Jamie surprised me by adopting one of their Toucan birds in my name. I even got to see the bird that we adopted...from a distance anyway. Jamie booked us a room at the Anniversary Inn. It was super fun! We slept in a lighthouse on a circle bed. It had a waterfall shower and an awesome jacuzzi tub. We went to a wedding reception that night and then ate at P.F. Chang's. Absolutely amazing! I loved all the food. The next day we went to the zoo as you can see from our pictures. We had a great time seeing all the animals and all the families. It was crazy to think that we'd soon be parents ourselves.

School started as usual in August.  I only had to take three classes to graduate but I decided to take a full load since the amount of money you pay for tuition plateaus after 13 credits. Plus I had a scholarship that required a minimum of 15 credit hours to obtain. I ended up taking Cell Biology (yuck!), Evolution, Sign Language I, Plant Propagation, and Annuals/Perennials. I loved my classes except for cell. Gladly I passed all of them and graduated from Utah State University with my Bachelor's degree in Biology!

As the semester got into full swing the leaves changed color up in the canyon. I don't like to hike but Jamie does so I sacrificed and we went up the trail. Here are some pictures we took before it got too dark. We went up to the Wind Caves but didn't start until later in the evening...without a flashlight. We got stuck about halfway down in the dark. Jamie is super brave though and we got down the mountain without a problem. Keep in mind that by this point in time I'm about 3 months pregnant. What a ride!

I love acting and had the opportunity to be a part of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow over Halloween. I tried out in July and got the part of a choir member. It was a different type of play. We were outside in the fairgrounds and had a live horse that would run around the stage spooking Ichabod Crane. There were really only two speaking parts, that of the narrator and Ichabod. The narrator told the story as the rest of us pantomimed what he said. We also had a foley artist who happened to be in my ward. He was amazing and actually serves as the ward chorister for me as I play the organ. The play was a hit and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was great to get back into acting. Although by the end of the production I nearly didn't fit into my costume!

The Aggies once again participated in the Famous Idaho Potato bowl held in Boise, Idaho. The school had a deal for $40 you could get a round-trip bus ride, a ticket to the game, and all your meals for the day. We decided to go ahead and pay $80 for both of us and go. It was a blast! I'm so glad we had the opportunity to go. The bus left at 7 in the morning and we started driving. I was a little worried if I would be able to handle everything were I was about 28 weeks pregnant. I did just fine though. We stopped once on our way there for a bathroom break. Once there we ate lunch in the basketball arena next to the football stadium. Lunch was a baked potato bar which turned out to be really good once again! We had a lot of time to kill after that before the game started. We wandered around and saw a giant fake potato on a trailer that they haul around the state. Our friend Candace Clark also came to the game so we got to see and talk with her for a while. I had a water bottle with me that got confiscated at the door. I was super sad but we survived without it. The game was really warm at first but night came pretty quickly. I got cold since it was too hard for me to jump up and down with the crowd without nearly peeing my pants. Darn baby. Another sad fact is that my heavy winter coat is yellow, which happened to be the opposing teams colors. I felt bad but was cold so I ended up putting it on halfway through the game. The game was super close up until the fourth quarter. I thought we were going to lose for a while there. We did win though 41 to 15! Go Aggies!!!

We spent Christmas in Tonopah with Jamie's family. It was a wonderful time although there wasn't a whole lot of snow. Before we left we opened the presents from each other. Jamie gave me Rosetta Stone for Japanese and Japanese Demystified. I gave him the Chronicles of Prydain, Carnival of the Animals cd, and a book called The Mark of Athena. We spent nearly a week in Tonopah and loved every minute. Both our parents spoiled us and got us board games, a safe, carseat, clothes, and movies just for starters. We love you both!

For Valentine's Day I gave Jamie a bunch of Goldfish crackers and Martinelli. He gave me Martinelli too, chocolate covered strawberries, and a hyacinth. Great minds do think alike! I'm excited to keep the hyacinth alive and maybe plant it outside in our yard one day.

Last but certainly not least I received my diploma in the mail! I was so excited to become an official graduate of Utah State University. I'm going to miss going to school but being a mom will fill up that time gap I'm sure. Jamie was almost more excited than I was for me to finally get my diploma. He immediately put it in the beautiful frame we bought last May. The picture below also happens to be the first picture of me pregnant. Oops! :) Now we just get to await the happy arrival of Carl Daniel Wilson. Hopefully that will be soon! My due date is today March 22 but I'm pretty sure he isn't coming yet. Oh well!
