So now that I'm nearly graduating I finally got an internship! I have the opportunity to work in a type of greenhouse called a hoop house. They are made out of PVC, plastic wrap, and 2x4's making them a lot less expensive than the normal greenhouse. We are grow strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, sunflowers, beans, tomatoes, and peppers in them. The research that is going on here is comparing outside/inside growth and production as well as variety trials. It is all pretty interesting, but I'm just the little peon taking care of everything. I love it though! I'm learning so much and hopefully I can convince my parents to build one and increase their growing season a little! Maybe I can even convince Jamie's parents!! ;)
The other awesome thing about today is that we got to watch a solar
eclipse! We weren't perfectly aligned to see a total eclipse but the
partial eclipse was fun none the less. Here are some of the pictures we
got using our paper plate trick method. Jamie was more giddy than a young child at Christmas, I loved it.
